  • Bicicletta: backyard restaurant
    Food

When passing through Nachalat Binyamin I came across a store with nothing in it. Despite it being seemingly empty, a crowd was gathered outside. My curiosity getting the best of me, I peeked inside and discovered a vibrant backyard with a fun and funky Friday afternoon vibe.

Upon closer inspection I realized that this was actually a restaurant located in a backyard. After enquiring with a few members of the cheery crowd, I learned that this unique restaurant is called Bicicletta. Needless to say I stopped to grab a bite.

After a delicious meal, I continued on my way, thinking to myself that it’s these types of discoveries that make living in Tel Aviv so fascinating.

  • OCD
    Food

When an entire generation seems to have some sort of OCD, it just makes sense that someone would open a restaurant under that name. And in an era when we all upload our food to Instagram, it’s only natural that an Instagram icon would open a restaurant. That’s how the chef, foodie and Instagram king Raz Rahav, A.K.A. Razi Barvazi, created OCD – to put all of the most seductive Instagram pics on the plate.

The restaurant purposely has no menu, and what you’ll get (happily, I have no doubt) sent to your table are dishes set in advance. Basically, your food for the evening is selected for you. The restaurant features an open kitchen and a limited amount of seating. Make sure you don’t forget to post your food on Instagram!

  • The Bellboy
    Food

Okay, okay, the Bellboy isn’t a restaurant at all, it’s a bar – but hey, there’s food there so let’s talk. It seems that no matter where you get off when you riding the number 5 bus, you’ll be right smack in front of a cocktail bar. That seems to be the latest trend, and you know what, it’s a good one. But the Bellboy was one of the first to pull that trick and is certainly one of the most successful. The dark and mysterious atmosphere, the hypnotizing décor, the hysterical cocktail serving and the great food – all together these create an experience that will make you wonder if perhaps you mistakenly got into a time machine and went back to 20th century Paris.
